Solemn Pink was first performed at the Judson Church, New York, as part of the Movement Research program in March 1993, and was supported by the Greenwell Foundation Program.

It was selected for the 1994 Rencontres Chorégraphique Internationales de Bagnolet competition in Paris, amongst an incredibly talented field that included John Jasperse and Kota Yamazaki.

Lucy later went on to feature with Jasperse and Yamazak in a double bill at the Malthouse Theatre in 2006 as part of  the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2006 in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan.

Premiered at Judson Church, New York City, USA, 15 March 1993.

Solemn Pink also featured at Stockholm’s Danscentrum in 1993, which was Lucy’s first international tour. Danscentrum was established as a national artistic research centre in 1971 and has evolved over the years to become the Trade Association for Professional Contemporary Dance.
