A new biennial dance festival is coming—to be supported, presented, and realised by up to 11 Festival Partners including Lucy Guerin Inc.

The inaugural festival will take place at venues across Melbourne from 1-31 March 2023. This will be a small pilot festival—an opportunity to test ideas and models.

Expressions of interest are now open for dance artists to propose ideas and projects for the festival.

Projects of interest for LGI

For the inaugural festival, LGI is interested in experimental choreographic and movement practices that create connection and dialogue with audiences and the broader dance sector. LGI seeks a project currently in development that would benefit from a 1-week residency, culminating in 2-3 public showings. This needs to be a work that is already significantly developed but yet to have a public outcome in Naarm.

We are also open to proposals for other small-scale projects that fall within the following categories:

– Professional development workshop (1 to 5 days)
– Curated talk series (e.g. 1 night each week across the festival)

Dates available: 27 February – 18 March 2023

Space available: Studio 1 at WXYZ Studios. Capacity for 50 seats / audience members.

Access at WXYZ Studios: For detailed information about accessibility at WXYZ Studios, please click here.

What LGI will provide:
– Project Budget of up to $8,000
– 1 week of in-kind space (development and showings)
– Producing, production and technical support
– Space use and equipment for showings
– Free access to daily class for all dancers involved

Please note, individual budgets will be negotiated with successful projects.
