About Jayden & Melissa’s Residency
We are extremely excited to step into this ‘Moving Forward Residency’ by LGI.
This residency provided us with the resources to continue developing PASSwith3, first presented as part of Out of Bounds in 2022. In its fullest we see this work as a 50 minute piece that we hope to premiere in Melbourne.
PASSwith3 is a compelling new contemporary dance work where creative choices are driven and inspired by the practice of threading, break and contemporary floor work, and a potent interest in the possibilities of human kind. Creating openings for opportunity and pathways within and around the self or others that may be involved.
With original sound composed by Jayden, PASSwith3 is a hypnotic flow of designed choice, desiring immediate interconnection between bodies. The work will ask for attention to the detail that calmly shows swift and precise action.
As it stands, the work is a duo between us, but the vision of the full iteration is a trio. Therefore we are bringing friend and artist Mason Kelly inside, to start introducing another body into the ideas.
PASSwith3 welcomes and invites all to enter a tranquil state, free from disturbance and open to experience. It is here and now and requires presence, patience and choice. With much resemblance in how we decide to navigate our own journey, PASSwith3 becomes and is more than just a physical movement practice. In such unique times, who influences the way you think? How and why you make the choices you do?

About the artists
Jayden Wall is a Naarm/Melbourne based dancer who is nationally recognised for his passion, versatility and welcoming nature. Jayden is devoted to exploring movement of the body with current practice’s focused on improvisation within contemporary and house dance.

Melissa Pham is a Naarm/Melbourne based artist who studied full-time dance at Brent Street. She has been a featured dancer in several music videos for Australian artists such as George Alice, Jennifer Loveless, Kite String Tangle, Tash Sultana, Gretta Ray, Isaiah Firebrace and Andrew Lambrou.
Of recent, Melissa is apart Chunky Move’s new development of a work 4/4 and Campari’s short film which screened at Melbourne International Film Festival. She is currently a part of Stephanie Lake Company whose current work Manifesto is set to continue touring nationally and internationally.
