We’re thrilled to expand on our artist lineup with each designer sharing a short and insightful presentation with OOB audiences and artists about their practice. Over the weekend this cohort will have the opportunity to witness, respond and connect with choreographers and peers.

Reuben Lewis is an artist investigating the intersection of electro-acoustic sound design and physical performance. Over a fifteen-year career, he has developed a singular musical language described by The Australian as “beyond category” and by The Wire as “a vivid listening experience that gleams with sinister detail.” His music aims to play on expectations and unravel all semblance of familiar form.

Alec Ilyine is a Belgian musician, sound engineer, and multi-instrumentalist, known for his exploration of diverse musical traditions. He plays a wide range of stringed instruments, including 6- and 12-string guitars, Ud, Cavaquinho, Charango, and bass guitar. He has spent many years studying blues and contemporary fingerpicking.

Gabriel Bethune is an artist trained in Theatrical Design. With years of experience in lighting, sound, and video, he narrows his focus on the strange and arcane. Designing non-traditional solutions to non-traditional performances and works. Gabriel’s designs take him on a broad spectrum of performance traditions, from Musical Theatre to Opera to contemporary Australian works (girl and Visual Arts.

Elekis Poblete Teirney is a freelance lighting artist and designer of Chilean/Pākehā descent currently residing in the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation in Naarm/Melbourne Australia. Elekis’ light and design practices are based in the circles of dance, physical theatre and installation work where she explores light and darkness as meaning makers/knowledge holders within narrative and experiential contexts.

Out of Bounds is an exciting choreographic ideas sharing platform presented by Lucy Guerin Inc and Dancehouse.
Curated by Lucy Guerin, Dr Phillip Adams, and Josh Wright, Out of Bounds invites dance artists to share excerpts of up to 10-minutes duration of recent choreographic investigations, experiments, or works-in-progress. Following the sharing, each work will be given space for creative feedback with discussions facilitated by experienced dance practitioners and peers.
