Class today is Ballet w/ Chimene Steele-Prior

The aim of this class is to provide the mind and body a warm-up and workout that prepares for the day ahead. This class focuses on creating length, strength, and warmth in the body. Chimene utilises methods from Countertechnique within classical ballet class and offers directional and spatial possibilities for exploration by participants. This class includes exercises at the barre that warm up the body and provide a framework for the centre work. Centre work may include transfer of weight, adage, piirouettes, and small to large jumps. The class may include traveling exercises through space that encourage freedom of expression, and spinal movement/mobility.

This class is suitable for people who have previous experience in classical ballet, and who are either aspiring, pre-propfessional or professional dancers.

Chimene is a Melbourne based artist. Chimene has worked extensively with Opera Australia since 2011 and was most recently a part of the creation and national tour of The Merry Widow by Graeme Murphy. She has also worked with Lauren Langlois, Lewis Major, Natalie Cursio, Omer Backley-Astrachan, Restless Sleepers (UK), Robert McCredie, Shaun McLeod, Shian Law and Sheridan Lang. Her work IN FORMATION II and was nominated for a Green Room Award for Concept and Realisation in 2015. In 2016, Chimene became a Counter Technique teacher.
