Class today is Ballet w/ Chimene Steele-Prior

This class focuses on creating length, strength, and warmth in the body. Chimene utilises methods from her Countertechnique practice and offers directional and spatial possibilities for participants to explore. Class will include barre exercises to warm up the body and provide a framework for centre work. Centre work may include transfer of weight, adage, pirouettes, and small to large jumps.

The class may include traveling exercises through space that encourage freedom of expression, and spinal movement/mobility.

This class is suitable for people who have previous experience in classical ballet, and who are either aspiring, pre-professional or professional dancers.


About Chimene Steele-Prior
Chimene is a Melbourne based artist. Chimene has worked extensively with Opera Australia since 2011 and was most recently a part of the creation and national tour of The Merry Widow by Graeme Murphy. She has also worked with Lauren Langlois, Lewis Major, Natalie Cursio, Omer Backley-Astrachan, Restless Sleepers (UK), Robert McCredie, Shaun McLeod, Shian Law and Sheridan Lang. Her work IN FORMATION II and was nominated for a Green Room Award for Concept and Realisation in 2015. In 2016, Chimene became a Countertechnique teacher.
