Class today is Contemporary Dance w/ Callum Mooney
The aim of this class is to provide a holistic and challenging experience for dancers. The class begins by warming up the body and increasing range of motion which prepares dancers for the physical demands of the class. The focus on stability and fast-twitch muscle fibres enables dancers to build strength and control. There will be exploration of textures and qualities in various dance styles to allow dancers to broaden their movement vocabulary and develop versatility. The class also prioritises the development of improvisational skills, encouraging dancers to explore their creativity and develop their own unique style. Callum’s dance class is dynamic and incorporates various styles and techniques.
In this class you will then delve into contemporary floor-work and street styles. The standing phrases challenge dancers with intricate speed, weight changes, and counter-direction, allowing for a thorough exploration of movement possibilities. The class emphasises dynamic movement and encourages dancers to explore the full range of motion in their bodies; with a focus on speed and precision.
