Class today is Contemporary Dance w/ Caroline Meaden
Caroline’s class aims to prepare the mind and body for sensitive, imaginative, and engaged movement practice. Beginning with an emphasis on tuning the attention to find balance and softness, we then move on to phrase material that explores dynamic shifts, rhythmic phrasing and a playful blend of technical rigour and personal expression.

About Caroline Meaden
Caroline is a dance artist and speech pathologist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her work privileges dance as a formal medium, while folding in theatrical and text-based elements. Past works have embraced a pluralistic ethos – incorporating multiple references and forms within dissonant, collage-like structures. These works integrate text and dance without defaulting to a dance-theatre sensibility, but rather, referencing and disrupting theatre conventions and devices (narrative, gesture, exposition) through the application of choreographic logics and structures to disperse meaning.
Caroline has created works as part of ‘Alice Will Caroline’ as well as solo-authored pieces. She has also performed in work by artists including Michelle Heaven, Phillip Adams Balletlab, Shelley Lasica, Sandra Parker, Monica Bill Barnes and others.
