Class today is Contemporary Dance w/ Rebecca Jensen

Rebecca’s class is a way to dance and spend time together in action, moving in a mode of research—unpacking, experimenting, observing, attending, perceiving. It offers space to connect with the body in an easeful, mindful way in order to open more space to discover new thresholds, new pathways, new bodies. Class will include a slow warmup drawing on a range of dance techniques, speculative techniques, somatic practices and imagery, leading into score-based improvisation and/or set choreography/phrasework.

Rebecca Jensen is a dancer, choreographer and teacher, born in Aotearoa and based in Narrm. Her work spans theatres, galleries and unconventional spaces, as well as participatory projects and film. Her low-fi, process-driven practice centres the body and the interdisciplinary potential of choreography, working through dance utilising its equally speculative and practical qualities. She has collaborated closely with choreographer Sarah Aiken for over a decade (Deep Soulful Sweats), and her performance history includes working with choreographers Jo Lloyd, Lucy Guerin, Shelley Lasica, Adam Linder, Sandra Parker, Lee Serle and Harrison Ritchie-Jones.
