In celebration of Melbourne’s award-winning dance company Lucy Guerin Inc, BLEACH Festival presents NEWRETRO DUETS—five duets from the archive of the leading Australian choreographer Lucy Guerin. Performed by exceptional women, these duets have formed a thematic through-line in Lucy’s choreographic thinking, spanning more than 20 years. Each deals with two contradictory ideas in dialogue, that seek to find resolution to conflict in the world with varying outcomes.
NEWRETRO DUETS will be placed alongside NEWRETRO 21 WORKS, the extensive archive of Guerin’s work, which gives a context to how insistent themes resurface in a lifelong body of work.
