Presented by Performance Space for Liveworks 2023
Witness the gripping revival of Lucy Guerin’s acclaimed contemporary dance piece Robbery Waitress on Bail. This captivating duet takes inspiration from the pages of Melbourne’s tabloids—its starting point was the report of a waitress who acts as a hostage in a robbery while her fiancé holds a knife to her throat in the all-night cafe where she works.
Premiering at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre II in 1997, the work was also featured in Antistatic Festival that same year with Lucy Guerin and Ros Warby performing. Now after more than two decades, Robbery Waitress on Bail returns to Performance Space, this time showcasing Rebecca Jensen and Georgia Rudd, two of Australia’s most exciting contemporary dancers.
With all the elements of a Hitchcock thriller, Robbery Waitress on Bail will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
