Special LGI Morning Class: Ballet w/ Fukiko Takase
Join Fukiko Takase for a free-flowing high-energy contemporary ballet class.
With a variety of exercises at the barre leading to movement sequences in the centre, Fukiko encourages expression and release within the ballet technique. This class includes simple Ballet barre exercises to align and strengthen, focusing on musicality and coordination in the centre.
This dance class may include fast paced foot work, jumping and is suitable for dancers with interest and basic training in ballet and contemporary.
This class may include drumming, sitting on your knees, body percussion, vocals, learning specific rhythmic patterns and is suitable for both trained and untrained dancers, however dancers should be able to sit on their knees. We recommend bringing knee pads, yoga mats will be provided.
About Fukiko Takase
Fukiko Takase is a performer, choreographer and teacher. She collaborates with multidisciplinary artists internationally, with a focus on bridging scenes between the UK and Japan. In the UK she works with Henri Oguike Dance Company, Company Wayne McGregor and Akram Khan Company. Video features include Thom Yorke/Atoms for Peace ‘Ingenue’ and TV commercials; UNIQLO, Toyota, Diner’s Club Card. She choreographed for Daniel Brandt and Hikaru Utada subsequently touring Japan with Utada (Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018). She is Honourable Professor for Shikoku University and recently choreographed and performed in Nina Simone music video ‘Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’.
