We’re excited to invite Expressions of Interest for LGI’s Make a Start residency program, open to projects running between 6 January and 31 August 2025.

The Make a Start program offers 1- to 2-week in-studio residencies, perfect for artists exploring new ideas or beginning early-stage developments. It’s a chance to experiment, take creative risks, and push your practice into unfamiliar territory.

We’re on the lookout for bold, risk-taking projects—ideas that stretch your artistic boundaries and challenge choreographic thinking, while exploring experimental approaches to dance practice.

Residencies typically take place outside LGI office hours, on weekends and evenings. Where possible, daytime studio access may also be available.

Who can apply?

  • LGI encourages applications from artists identifying as First Nations, CALD, Deaf or Disabled, and LGBTQIA+.
  • Choreographers, trained dancers, recent graduates, and dance artists with a track record of creating work.
  • Applications can be made by individuals, collectives, or companies.

How to apply

Applications close 9am on Monday 18 November 2024.
