Presented by Lucy Guerin Inc and Dancehouse, Out of Bounds is an exciting choreographic ideas sharing platform.
The program invites dance artists to present a short showing of their recent choreographic investigations to local audiences, fellow artists and peers. The initiative also provides participants with the opportunity to receive creative feedback about their work, with post-showing discussions facilitated by experienced dance practitioners.
Out of Bounds 2026 is happening at LGI / WXYZ Studios on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April.
Curated by Lucy Guerin, Josh Wright and Dr. Phillip Adams, the 2026 program has places for 24 artists to share excerpts of up to 10-minutes duration of recent choreographic investigations, experiments, or works-in-progress.
In addition, we invite up to four designers (including composers, set and costume designers, lighting designers, AV artists) to attend and participate across the weekend. Selected designers will each deliver a short 5-minute presentation, introducing their practice, recent or current work, areas of interest and research.
A simple, shared technical set-up will be provided to support each presentation. Selected artists and designers will receive a $200 honorarium per project on completion of the event.
Out of Bounds seeks to represent dance artists from across all forms, practices, cultures, histories, lineages, styles, disciplines, aesthetics and experimentations. The program’s aim is to show new work in a raw state—providing a generous, open space for artists to take risks and try out their ideas. Works will not be programmed if they are complete or have previously received a public outcome.

Submissions are strongly encouraged and warmly welcomed from artists identifying as First Nations, CALD, Deaf or Disabled, and LGBTIQA+.
