Riot/Soccer/Rock/Dogs
An Archival Collision

Riot/Soccer/Rock/Dogs reconstructs fragments from Lucy Guerin’s incredible back-catalogue, condensing choreography from different time periods into the same temporal space to create a living archive of new, corporeal gestures.

Featuring a cast of 10 exceptional Melbourne dancers, Riot/Soccer/Rock/Dogs unfolds over one hour, delivering an experience that is at once intimate and spectacular.

The show is flexible in its presentation, allowing for performances in the round or end-on, adapting seamlessly to different venues and audience configurations. It premiered at Melbourne Art Fair in February 2024 at Alpha60 Chapter House.

Riot/Soccer/Rock/Dogs is drawn from NEWRETRO, a 3-hour installation which premiered at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), March 2023.

The creation of Riot/Soccer/Rock/Dogs (previous title NEWRETRO REDUX) was supported by Melbourne Art Fair’s Melbourne Art Foundation and LGI’s Commissioning Circle. The project would not have been possible without the generous support of the late Chloe Munro AO and WXYZ Studios.
